How To Become a Member    
Who Is Eligible:

The Middle States Association Commissions on Elementary and Secondary Schools (MSA-CESS) have approximately 3,000 member institutions in the United States and in more than 90 countries around the world. A directory of members is available here.

Membership in MSA-CESS is open to educational institutions that fall into one of the following categories:
  • public and non-public early childhood, elementary, middle, intermediate, and/or secondary schools
  • non-degree granting vocational technical and postsecondary institution
  • special purpose schools
  • supplementary education centers
  • distance education institutions
These institutions may be ungraded or have designated grade levels, including a post-graduate level. 
 
To be accredited by the MSA-CESS, an institution must meet all of the MSA Standards for Accreditation. Potential members should review the policy governing expectations of accredited institutions in the MSA-CESS policy manual. Another useful document to examine is the policy code of good practice.

We encourage you to review the full process and benefits of membership on our website. Before entering the accreditation process, all institutions are vetted through a candidacy process that begins with a request for an Interest Packet from MSA-CESS.
