The Middle States Association Commissions on Elementary and Secondary Schools (MSA-CESS) congratulates Jennifer J. Beckwith, Ph.D., founding director of the American United School Kuwait, on her appointment as a commissioner.

Beckwith is one of six commissioners recently appointed to MSA-CESS.

“I am pleased to welcome Dr. Beckwith to the Commissions,” said Lisa Marie McCauley, Ed.D., president of the MSA-CESS. “With her knowledge and international school experience, Dr. Beckwith will help further elevate Middle States as the leader in accreditation around the globe.”

As founding director of the American United School Kuwait, Beckwith has grown the student population to over 1,100 in eight years. She also has extensive experience leading schools across Europe and the Middle East.

In addition to volunteering as an accreditation team chair with Middle States, Beckwith holds leadership positions in several international education associations. She is a founding member of the Diversity Collaborative, an informal group of international educators committed to creating a more diverse, inclusive, equitable and just environment among the leadership of international schools.

Beckwith earned her Ph.D., in Educational Administration with College Teaching, from Vanderbilt University.  She holds a Master’s degree in guidance and counselor education and a Bachelor of Science in music education and English. She also attended Harvard University’s Principal Institute and William and Mary’s Leadership Forum.

“As a strong proponent of accreditation, I am honored to serve as a Middle States commissioner,” Beckwith said. “The Middle States accreditation process is rooted in the power of peer review, which benefits schools by providing a personalized approach to accreditation that fosters collaboration and growth.”
