James Evans, Esq., Of Barclay Damon, Appointed As Middle States Commissioner

We are proud to announce the appointment of James P. Evans, Esq., a partner with the law firm Barclay Damon, LLP, in Syracuse, N.Y., as a new commissioner.

As an attorney, Evans assists schools with policy development, board governance and risk-management issues. He has defended public and private schools, including charter schools, in litigation and special proceedings in state and federal court. He is also an assistant education professor at Le Moyne College in Syracuse, N.Y.

“I am pleased to welcome Jim to Middle States in the role of commissioner,” said Lisa Marie McCauley, Ed.D., president of the Middle States Association Commissions on Elementary and Secondary Schools. “In his legal career, Jim has become a resource for educational institutions, having represented several public and private schools over the years, and we are happy that he is willing to lend his expertise to us.”
